Federal Judge Halts Overtime Rule

A breaking news story: a federal judge has halted the Department of Labor's new overtime rule that was to take effect December 1.

On November 22, 2016, a federal judge denied the Labor Department from implementing its new overtime rule, unexpectedly granting an injunction that deals a severe blow to one of the president’s landmark workplace regulations.

The court precluded the rule nationwide days before it was scheduled to take effect December 1st.

President-elect Donald Trump may consider revising the regulation through rulemaking or legislation, if the court winds up restoring it.
